A new adventure begins!
A few years ago, Clay and I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. We moved to the beautiful Central Coast of California! We loved and cherished our time there, but family brought us back to Texas. Our families and our desire to grow our own family through adoption.
We first considered adoption in California after Clay's cancer diagnosis. But, as you will read from this post (http://clayandlaurasbigadventure.blogspot.com/2015/09/part-3-we-are-really-grown-ups.html), we weren't quite ready at that time to begin the adoption process. We were overwhelmed and far from home. A few years have passed. We're back in Texas, and we're finally on our way to adopting a child. I feel like we need to pinch ourselves, we're so excited! And so begins a new adventure!
I'm so thankful for the time we've had to find a very good adoption agency. The thing that is hard to accept about adoption is that someone else's family is broken so that ours can be complete. I have so much respect for these women that sacrificially make a decision to place their child in a loving home. I wanted to know that these women would be honored and cared for. That they would receive good counseling, and that they would leave empowered to overcome the obstacles they are facing in life. Gladney offers counseling and support for the biological mother for free forever. The support we receive as adoptive parents is phenomenal as well!
We are currently in the process of having our home study written. So far, Barkley is the star of our household! He took our caseworker on a room by room tour of our home and then laid at her feet until we moved to the next room.
Our German Shepherd pup, Addy was on good behavior as well.
We look forward to providing more updates and sharing our journey with you. We are so grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and for those of you who have supported us financially!
